Before you measure
Three things worth checking.
Measure the fillers, not the cover
Cushion covers are sized to the filler that goes inside them. Measure your existing filler edge to edge and match that figure, rather than measuring a cover that may have relaxed with use.
Tablecloths need an overhang
Measure your tabletop, then add the drop you want on both sides. A 25–30 cm drop is the usual choice for everyday dining; add more for a formal setting.
Curtains are width × drop
Measure the rod or track rather than the window itself, and decide where the curtain should finish — at the sill, below it, or at the floor — before comparing drops.
